July flycatchers

Spotted Flycatcher - 23/07 (Ventnor)
Pied Flycatcher - 24/07 (witt calls, Ventnor)

Local fresh juv herring gulls - on the wing.

LBB

Wheatear (Ventnor Downs) - also Crossbills continue to move most early mornings (West and North); Sand Martins heading south. Willow warbler numbers increasing. Barn Owl juv begging most nights. HB hawk-moth (29th) and Painted Lady (only my second of the year, Bonchurch Down, on the 29th). And an adder at Luccombe Down - can't say I've seen many in the year and half I've lived here - I'm sure they're more prevalent than my scant obs would suggest.
Somewhat subtle in this pic but there were 'noctilucent' clouds showing before dawn one morning; and comet neowise was quite obvious, which I saw at least (earlier on in July from Nansen Hill - worth getting up for).

July

Cuckoo - getting ready to depart our shores.

Continuous Crossbill movements - presumably part of a large irruption from mainland breeding sites. A few Siskin too.

One of two HB hawk-moths.

Tail end of things...(Velvet Scoter)

Following a protracted mild period since the summer, conditions suddenly changed with the first frost (Nov 20th) and a light dusting of snow...
