Reports of local migrant sightings early on today really inspired me to get out after work, so headed to Brading RSPB. Caught up with a lovely male Garganey. Also heard my first cuckoo.
Two common sandpipers and c30 swallow.

East Wight - A.M

First stop Sandown canoe lake

Heard a willow warbler singing. Then saw it. My first of the year, but a few have already been seen locally and nationally.

Second stop was Bembridge down. Two willow warblers there too. And more along the footpath near Gander down.

Fairly devoid of any 'spring migrants,' be it on the deck or flying over. But just as I was leaving I heard tacking - a ring ouzel - and it took a while to locate it visually, but eventually i saw it.

Tail end of things...(Velvet Scoter)

Following a protracted mild period since the summer, conditions suddenly changed with the first frost (Nov 20th) and a light dusting of snow...
